Why visit

Oshiage gives travelers the Tokyo Skytree experience plus a surprisingly quiet residential neighborhood one block away. The Solamachi mall at the base of Skytree covers souvenirs, food, and a planetarium. Beyond the tower, Oshiage's backstreets feel like old shitamachi Tokyo: small shops, local eateries, and none of the Asakusa crowds. The Tobu Skytree line and Hanzomon metro make Narita and Haneda access straightforward.

Kinshicho — the next station over

One stop from Oshiage on the Hanzomon line, Kinshicho has no headline sights but is quietly useful for shopping. The large commercial complex next to the station houses a spacious Daiso, Muji, and a big gashapon capsule toy floor, all far less crowded than their Shibuya or Shinjuku equivalents. Don Quijote is also nearby.

Should you stay here?

Oshiage is a practical budget alternative to Asakusa. Hotels are cheaper, airport access is direct via Tobu Skytree line and Keisei line, and Asakusa is a 20-minute walk or one stop away. The trade-off: fewer restaurants and less evening atmosphere than Asakusa. It works well for a first or last night when airport logistics matter, or as a budget base for travelers who do not mind a quieter neighborhood.
